This edition of the Toronto Daily Star featured this short piece of bad news:

Colin Clive was, sadly, indeed near death: the 37-year-old actor died the next day of tuberculosis. His claim to fame was his portrayal of Dr. Frankenstein (the doctor, not the monster) in Frankenstein (1931) and its sequel, Bride of Frankenstein (1935). He was plagued by alcoholism that was so severe that he had to be held upright for some shots.
