Lilly Dillenz

Toronto Daily Star, May 8 1928

Lilly Dillenz (1896-1964) has a German Wikipedia page. The previous year, she had failed in an attempt to become the first woman to cross the Atlantic Ocean; the flight, piloted by Fritz Loose, did not get past the Azores due to propeller defects.

I could find out nothing about Ms. Dillenz's second attempt to cross the ocean, but it either was not successful or did not happen, as Amelia Earhart became the first woman to cross the Atlantic in June 1928.

Ms. Dillenz went on to create a film production company in Vienna with her husband, artist Richard Dillenz. Searches turned up two photos of her from 1927, located here and here.

Created October 23, 2025.
