Gianni Gambi

Despite being asked to fight in Benito Mussolini's army, Gianni Gambi (1907-1986) survived the Second World War. Before the war, he had competed for Italy in freestyle swimming at the 1928 Olympic Games. After the war, he swam the English Channel and swam between Naples and Capri.
