Mr. and Mrs. Thomas W. Gilmour

Toronto Daily Star, June 25 1937

The angle of the photograph gives the impression that Mr. and Mrs. Thomas W. Gilmour have quite startling cheekbones.

A search of the Toronto city directories revealed that the Gilmours were the proprietors of The Nursery, a children's wear and toy shop located at 97 and 99 Bloor Street West. The 1937 directory also lists Thomas W. Gilmour living at Boulder Crest on Burton Road in Forest Hill; subsequent directory listings have this as 42 Burton Road.

In the 1957 directory, not much had changed - Thomas W. Gilmour was still at 42 Burton Road and the Gilmours were still running The Nursery, though it was now listed as just focusing on children's wear and at 99 Bloor West only. By 1962, he was listed at 42 Burton but The Nursery was no longer listed.

He appears to have remained at 42 Burton Road for the rest of his life; the last directory in which he appears is 1980. I couldn't find a listing for his widow in the next directory, which is the 1981/82 directory, so she quite likely predeceased him.
