Phyllis Mudford

Toronto Daily Star, April 1 1932

Phyllis Mudford King (1905-2006) reached one other doubles final at Wimbledon, losing in 1937. She last played at Wimbledon in 1953.

She lived for nearly three-quarters of a century after this photo was taken, and was the oldest living Wimbledon champion when she passed away at the age of 100. By my count, there were 19 different people who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom during her lifetime.

Created October 20, 2025.
