Donald Elias Rogers was part of the branch of the Rogers family that dealt in coal and cement, not the part that became involved in radio and telecommunications. Donald's grandfather, Elias Rogers, was president of the coal company that bore his name; when he passed away in 1920, Donald's father, Alfred Rogers, took over the company.
Donald Rogers doesn't appear in the Toronto city directories in the years immediately before he got married (though I did find him in the 1930 directory). He is listed in the 1935 directory as an assistant sales manager at the Alfred Rogers company, which was the cement part of Alfred Rogers' business empire. By 1939, he was the general manager there; by 1942, he was living in Aurora. The 1953 directory lists him as vice-president and general manager. Unfortunately, he passed away in March 1953 in Florida at the age of 46; I couldn't find details. He is buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. His wife outlived him by more than 40 years.
His father, Alfred Rogers, passed away later in 1953. Until his death, Alfred had lived at "Uplands", a palatial home located on Bayview Avenue (which had been formerly known as "Annandale"). After his death, the new owner of the property rebuilt the home in a more modern style; it is now 28 Valleyanna Drive in North York.
