This song takes me back to being on various dance floors when I was at university. I wouldn't want to be 22 again but it's sometimes enjoyable to look back in nostalgia.
Stephen Duffy (born 1960) was a founding member of Duran Duran in the late 1970s, leaving the band in 1979 shortly before they got a record deal and became famous. In 1982, he created a band named Tin Tin. "Kiss Me" was their first single; Duffy allegedly wrote it within 24 hours after the band had signed a record deal. It didn't reach any pop charts anywhere but did reach the Billboard dance chart, from which it made its way to assorted university dance floors.
Tin Tin broke up shortly after that; Stephen Duffy embarked on a solo career, including a re-recording of "Kiss Me" that had a slightly more modern sound and reached the UK Top 10. (I don't like it as much as the original, but the older version is the one that I knew.) Besides additional solo albums, Duffy has also recorded with The Lilac Time, a band that includes his older brother Nick, and has collaborated with Robbie Williams and with Steven Page of Barenaked Ladies.
This Tin Tin is not to be confused with the group of the same name that recorded "Toast and Marmalade for Tea" in 1971.
