Ace - How Long

May 1975 - Weeks On Chart: 10 - Highest Position: 7

This is more or less standard 1970s soft rock. It's not terrible but I've heard it so much over the years that I didn't feel a need to listen to it again.

Ace were from Sheffield in England and were originally known as Ace Flash and the Dynamos. "How Long" reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and nationally in Canada, and reached #20 on the UK singles chart. The song is apparently not about infidelity in a relationship: it was the result of lead singer and songwriter Paul Carrack's discovery that the band's bass player was secretly working with another band. Oh, the betrayal!

The group later moved to the United States and released a total of three albums and six singles before disbanding in 1977. Carrack went on to have an extensive career as a solo artist and as a member of Squeeze, Roger Waters' band, and Mike + The Mechanics.
