Bob Moore - Mexico

September 1961 - Weeks On Chart: 10 - Highest Position: 4

This song shuffles along and its horns try their very best to express the idea of Mexico as a concept. I didn't see a real need to listen to all of it.

Bob Moore (1932-2021) was a session musician, specializing in the double bass. Among his achievements, he played on many Elvis sessions starting in 1958, played on almost all of Patsy Cline's sessions from 1960 to 1963, and wrote arrangements for Roy Orbison. He is credited with playing on over 17,000 recording sessions.

"Mexico" reached #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the US adult contemporary chart, selling over one million copies. Moore released a few more singles up until 1966 without success while continuing with his career as a session musician. He was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame in 2007.
