I enjoyed listening to this but my first thought when I heard it was that 1961 was a long time ago. Music and the world were different then.
The Roommates were a quartet from Queens, New York; Cathy Jean Giordano was from Brooklyn. Cathy Jean and the Roommates had never actually met in person when "Please Love Me Forever" was released; their record label recorded Cathy Jean first and then brought the Roommates in to provide harmonies. The resulting single reached #12 on the Billboard Hot 100. Bobby Vinton released his own version of the song in 1967, which reached #6 on the Hot 100 and #5 on the CHUM chart.
Cathy Jean and the Roommates released six more singles from 1961 to 1963 without success before splitting up in 1965. Ms. Giordano performed in revival shows from the late 1960s until 1973. She hosted a radio show on Long Island in the late 1980s and then put together a new group of Roommates in 1991; they continued to perform in the New York area until at least 2012.
