The Choir - It's Cold Outside

June 1967 - Weeks On Chart: 3 - Highest Position: 35

This is an enjoyable bit of garage rock. The style was starting to go out of fashion by 1967, which might be why it didn't do well in the charts.

The Choir were from Cleveland. They were originally known as The Mods and, not surprisingly given their name, played covers of British Invasion material from the mid-1960s. "It's Cold Outside" was a regional hit in Cleveland, reaching #1 there for five weeks, and made it to #68 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The Choir went through multiple changes of personnel before splitting up in 1968, reforming later that year, and then disbanding for the final time in 1970. Three members of The Choir went on, with Eric Carmen, to form The Raspberries that year. They reunited in 2006 for two shows in Cleveland.

Created March 23, 2026.
