The Classics - Till Then

August 1963 - Weeks On Chart: 12 - Highest Position: 3

This is a classic (sorry about that) bit of slow doo-wop. You can almost picture this being played at the local high school dance - presumably while the teachers moved from couple to couple to ensure that they weren't dancing more closely than was allowed by school regulations. This song also represents the end of an era: the Beatles had their first chart record less than six months later.

The Classics were four young men from Brooklyn, because of course they were. "Till Then" reached #20 on the Billboard Hot 100, which meant that it was more popular in Toronto than in most other places. They had three other songs that came close to reaching the Hot 100 without making it.

The Classics disbanded in about 1966; one of their members, Emil Stucchio, toured under this name with other performers during the 1970s, 1990s, and 2000s.

Created December 29, 2025.
