Alas, this isn't really one of my favourites. Ms. Moore has a great voice but this is a bit too adult contemporary for me.
Dorothy Moore (born 1946) was from Jackson, Mississippi. While studying at Jackson State University, she was a member of The Poppies. They reached #56 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1966 with "Lullaby Of Love".
"Misty Blue" was originally written for Brenda Lee. When she didn't want it, her producer recorded it with country music singer Wilma Burgess in 1966; her version, which has a pre-rock feel to it, reached #4 on the US country music chart. It became her signature song.
Eddy Arnold then recorded it in 1967; his version would also likely have been popular with listeners who preferred a pre-rock sound. It reached #3 on the US country chart, #57 on the Billboard Hot 100, and #13 on the US adult contemporary chart.
Ms. Moore's version of "Misty Blue" reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #5 on the UK singles chart. She reached #27 on the Hot 100 in 1977 with "I Believe You" but this didn't get airplay in Toronto. She has kept on with her career ever since and has earned four Grammy Award nominations. She started her own record label in 2002 and her last album release was in 2020.
