This song could have easily been released in the late 1940s or early 1950s - it's catchy but it isn't rock and roll.
Dodie Stevens, given name Geraldine Ann Pasquale (born 1946), was just short of 13 years old when "Pink Shoe Laces" was released. It reached number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and sold over a million copies. She followed this up with several singles that reached the lower regions of the charts. She also recorded three albums, the last of which was released in 1963.
Shortly after this, she got married at the age of 16 and had a daughter. She was divorced in 1966 and began singing again, touring as a backup singer with a number of artists, including Loretta Lynn and Mac Davis. She also went on tour in the 1990s as "Dodie Stevens and The Pink Shoe Laces Review".
