The Echoes - Baby Blue

April 1961 - Weeks On Chart: 12 - Highest Position: 8

This song features the classic late 1950s and early 1960s chord progression but, unfortunately, I found the vocals annoying, especially the spelling. I wasn't able to listen to all of it. It did get stuck in my head for a while after I listened to it, though.

The Echoes were a vocal trio from the Queens district of New York City. "Baby Blue", their first single, reached #12 on the Billboard pop chart. Subsequent releases reached #88 and #112 and then it went downhill from there.

The Echoes, after some personnel changes, eventually rebranded themselves as The Scoundrels, without success. One of the group's original members, Tom Morrissey, later became the chairman of the Arizona Republican Party.

This version of The Echoes is not to be confused with a British band of the same name that provided backing for many recordings in the UK in the 1960s. And "Baby Blue" is not to be confused with the "Baby Blue" that was a hit single for Badfinger in 1972 and is basically awesome.
