This is an example of the garage rock sound of the 1960s but it's not my favourite of that genre - the lyrics seem a bit misogynistic and the overall sound is somewhat irritating.
Syndicate of Sound were from San Jose, California. "Little Girl", their first single, reached #8 on the Billboard Hot 100. They released further singles through 1970 before breaking up; two of them placed in the lower reaches of the Hot 100.
The band reformed in 1990 and remained active until frontman Don Baskin passed away in 2019. In 2006, they were inducted into the San Jose Rocks Hall of Fame. "Little Girl" is on permanent rotation in the one-hit wonder section of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
