Eternity's Children - Mrs. Bluebird

August 1968 - Weeks On Chart: 4 - Highest Position: 13

I'd never heard this until just now. It's an odd cross between easy listening, cheerful pop, and late 1960s psychedelia. The harmonies resemble those of The Mamas and The Papas. I didn't find it terrible but I won't go back to it for repeat listenings.

Eternity's Children were from Cleveland, Mississippi, and were originally known as The Phantoms. "Mrs. Bluebird" was their third single release; it only reached #69 on the Billboard Hot 100, so it was just a local hit in Toronto and possibly a few other places.

After this, the band went through personnel changes as they attempted to record an album. They eventually recorded two albums and released singles until 1970 without any further success. A version of the band toured until 1974. Vocalist and keyboard player Bruce Blackman and two other band members went on to form Starbuck, who had a one-hit wonder of their own.
